Happy Birthday to Me

July 30, 2006

Well its been a while since I’ve updated. Sorry about that, but the combination of working and having to move to my new apartment has taken a lot of time. You might ask, “But you don’t have much to move anyway”. This is true, but now I have to start filling up my apartment. It is quite a nice apartment for $600. Its helluva lot cheaper than Cali. Currently my furniture consists of my bed, a folding chair, and a stool. It is quite a sad sight. I have been using my cooler as a table. I really need some furniture. At least a table or something. Anyway, here’s some pics I took of my place…

So I also turned 25 on Friday. Geez, a quarter of a century already. I am an old fart. Didn’t do much on Friday… it was quite sad. I worked till 6:30, came back, bought some dinner and watched Crash (which, btw was a pretty good movie). Thanks for everyone who called or IMed to say happy birthday. It was definitely good to hear from people who are so far away now. If you forgot, its ok, I probably don’t know yours either.

Saturday was pretty low key. I went to find some furniture and I got my stool. At least now I can eat at the bar counter next to my kitchen. I also went up to Denver. On the way, I hit up a really nice mall called Park Meadows. Beats anything in the Springs. Went to a pretty good Thai place and had a couple drinks afterwards. Called it an early night cuz my friend was tired and had to wake up early.

Anyway, that’s it for now. I have some other pics on my Flickr, so head on over.

My First Weekend Off

July 2, 2006

So this past weekend right before Independence day, I went up to Boulder and Denver to visit a fellow loveboater friend. It was a lot of fun. Boulder is a very chill place with hippie-ish kinds of people. There was a little pedestrian mall thing kinda like 3rd St. Prominade or Old Town Pasadena. Pretty nice. A lot of stores were these outdoor stores that sold everything from kayaks to rock climbing equipment.

Anyway, I chilled out at the mall while I was waiting for Lynn to finish up work. I ended up buying a pan and a pot set at this cool store called Peppercorn. It reminded me of Sur La Table, but with more stuff.

After Lynn finished up, we went down to Denver to meet up with her friends for a BBQ. Good stuff. After that, I ended up going to dinner with some of her friends at this Japanese place. We got a buncha small dishes and drank lots of Kirin. After dinner, we went to club in Denver. It was actually a pretty nice club… comparable to some good LA and SF clubs. I managed to drive back to Colorado Springs at like 5 am. Damn that was one long night. Had lotta fun. Now gotta go to bed for work tomorrow and then a day off on Tuesday.

Work, work….

June 28, 2006

So far so good. All my co-workers are really nice people. My supervisor is really helpful and a really good person. Hopefully I will learn a lot from him. I’m already participating in a lot of stuff, so it’s kind of intimidating, but hopefully it will be ok.

This weekend I’m gonna go check out Denver. Should be a lot of fun. Gotta find out where all the good places to eat are. Maybe I’ll do some exploring some more and maybe a hike too. That should be fun.

Yellow People

I have seen 3 asian people here in Colorado Springs. I was very excited.

I have arrived to Colorado after a 12 hour drive from Vegas. Although it was a long drive, it beats the drive from SD to SF. This is mostly due to the fact that there are actually things to see while you're driving from Vegas to Colorado. Ok, fine, maybe not for the first couple hours after you leave Vegas since its mostly desert, but after you get into Arizona and Utah, you get to see some cool canyons and stuff. I will post pics later. Got to unpack.

New Perry Bible Fellowship Comic. Still Awesome.

I was reading the Drudge this morning and I saw this article:

Woman Hit By Lightning While Praying

POSTED: 2:52 pm EDT May 30, 2006

DAPHNE, Ala. — Worried about the safety of her family during a stormy Memorial Day trip to the beach, Clara Jean Brown stood in her kitchen and prayed for their safe return as a strong thunderstorm rumbled through Baldwin County, Alabama. But while she prayed, lightning suddenly exploded, blowing through the linoleum and leaving a blackened area on the concrete. Brown wound up on the floor, dazed and disoriented by the blast but otherwise uninjured. She said 'Amen' and the room was engulfed in a huge ball of fire. The 65-year-old Brown said she is blessed to be alive. Firefighters said its likely she was hit by a bolt of lightning that apparently struck outside and traveled into the house yesterday afternoon. She was found lying on the floor by her 14-year-old granddaughter. Fire officials think the lightning likely struck across the street from the couple's home and traveled into the house through a water line. The lightning continued into the couple's backyard and ripped open a small trench. A family member said he will no longer assume it is safe to be indoors during a lightning strike. Dime-sized hail and wind gusts of up to 45 miles-per-hour moved across coastal Baldwin County. As much as three inches of rain fell in some areas in three hours.

Another PBF comic.

Only in Florida

May 27, 2006

Here's an article I found on the Drudge that I thought was both somewhat disgusting and funny. The headline and subheadline goes as follows:

STDs Running Rampant In Retirement Community

Doctor Blames Viagra, Lack Of Sex Education

enjoy.

Aaaaaand back…

Got back from DC on Tuesday and I've been pretty busy as of late. I'll update with some pics and events soon. For now, here's my brother's dog that would pounce on my crotch every morning.
